::: STUDY Stuff :::

There are two different types of tundra: artic and alpine
  • The ALPINE TUNDRA  is found at high elevations, such as the Himalayas and Kilimanjaro.
  • The ARTIC TUNDRA  is found at high latitudes, such as Alaska and Russia.
Tundra regions can be found in the extreme northern latitudes of the globe.

::: SEE Stuff :::

The PERMAFROST is the permanently frozen subsoil of the polar regions. A layer of ice just below the ground which remains frozen throughout the year and makes plant life almost impossible.

The AURORA BOREALIS or the NORTHERN LIGHTS is a metrological phenomenon which occurs only at night in the northern artic tundra regions. The rising of the sun creates wavy rays of colored lights which seem to be dancing on the sky.
