Between the Lions - This is for teachers of early readers and pre-readers, ages four to seven -- all meant to spur interest in words, sentence structure, and other aspects of early literacy.

Kindergarten Resources - A hotlist of kindergarten resources compiled by  Sue Roseman, an Educational Technology Integrator for the Ottawa Carleton District School Board, with lots of resources and tools for the early childhood educators.

Early Childhood Technology Literacy Project - This website offers the background and materials to teachers around the world.

The Shifting Kindergarten Curriculum This digest reviews factors influencing kindergarten curriculum, and contrasts characteristics of skill-based and developmentally-oriented programs.

EduPuppy - Kristen Hammond heads up this well-screened directory of developmentally appropriate ideas and materials perfect for grades K-2. Using keywords and categories teachers can sniff out the best activities, research and resources for the classroom. Very user friendly.

Enchanted Learning - This portion of Enchanted Learning is dedicated exclusively to younger students. It includes letter and number recognition, colors, animals, transportation, as well as themes, links and a child-friendly search tool. Definitely worth your consideration.

ERIC Clearinghouse on Elementary and Early Childhood Education - This site is one of 16 clearinghouses in the ERIC system, providing resources for educators, parents and families, interested in the development, education, and care of children throughout early childhood. A great resource for research and literature helpful to educators.

Funschool - Original activities designed for younger students, Funschool is a great place to have safe fun online. There's lots of familiar game formats here, and great use of JAVA applets for interactive uses of technology.

Idea Box - All kinds of timely lessons and activities designed for the primary grades, including message boards where teachers can get together and offer support and ideas for one another.

KinderKorner - Kinder Korner is a resource web site for teachers and others interested in early childhood education.

Shaping Up This delightful story involves circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles and how they live together. The story can be told on the flannel board. Not only is this activity excellent for recognizing shape, there is a moral to the story that helps children see the relationship of mathematics to everyday life.

Grandpa Tucker's Rhymes and Tales Here you'll find poems and stories that kids love. You will find seasonal stories and something new. This is a fun site to explore with your students or place at a center.
Hide-and-Seek Lesson Explaining abstract concepts to young children can be made easier by involving the kids in activities. This lesson plan helps teach kindergarten students the concept of animal hibernation by having them hide nuts and later try to find them. As part of this lesson, students also observe and record different weather conditions.
Holidays on the Net This site offers links to holiday celebrations year-round.

Little Explorers Even the youngest children are fascinated with the Internet. Make their surfing sessions educational as well as fun with Little Explorers' online dictionary. The child simply points and clicks on a letter and a word starting with that letter pops up on the screen. This is a great way to get the young ones started online.
Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes This site offers an index of many nursery rhymes. Each is written with rebus pictures to make the reading fun and easy.
Paper Dot Plates This hands-on activity (via downloadable file) uses paper plates and sticky dot labels to reinforce the understanding of sub concepts of a number. It introduces the concepts more/less; part/whole; conservation; and oral and symbolic names of numbers.
